What is a refurbished laptop?

A refurbished laptop is a used laptop that has been properly checked, fixed where needed, cleaned and reset before being sold again — usually with a warranty.

Most refurbished business laptops in India come from companies. Firms lease laptops for three or four years and then replace the whole fleet, even though the machines still work well. Those laptops go to refurbishers, who:

• test every part — processor, memory, storage, battery, screen, keyboard, ports
• replace anything that fails, like a tired battery or a worn keyboard
• wipe the storage securely and install a fresh operating system
• clean the body and grade how it looks (A, B and so on)

The result is a laptop that works like it should, often costs 40–70% less than when it was new, and comes with a warranty — which is the big difference from buying second-hand from a stranger.

Is it the same as "used"?
