Refurbished laptops for programmers
Coding needs a good keyboard, enough RAM and a processor that doesn't choke when your IDE, browser, Docker and Slack are all open. These laptops pass that test.

What actually matters for coding
- RAM first: 8 GB works for web development and learning. For Android Studio, Docker, VMs or large projects, aim for 16 GB.
- Processor: 8th-gen Intel or newer (four cores) or AMD Ryzen. 10th gen and up if you compile a lot.
- Keyboard: you'll type a lot. ThinkPads are famous for this for good reason.
- Screen: Full HD makes a real difference when you have code and a browser side by side.
Linux friendly
ThinkPads and Latitudes are among the most Linux-friendly laptops you can buy. Ubuntu and Fedora install cleanly on most of them.

Is a MacBook good for programming?
Yes, especially M1/M2 models — they're great for web, iOS and general development. If you need Windows-specific tools, a ThinkPad is the safer choice.
