Lenovo ThinkPad L440 · Intel Core i5 (4th Gen) · 14" HD · 8 GB / 256 GB SSD

Here's a ThinkPad L-series that has already proven itself in a corporate fleet, now tested and ready for its second life with you. The L-series is the practical ThinkPad — built to the same durability standards as the T-series, but aimed at companies that buy hundreds at a time and want value. Less flash, same reliability. The L440 is a 4th-gen value ThinkPad; simple, tough and very affordable for basic office and school work.

The Core i5 is the sweet spot for most people — quick enough for multitasking, Office, coding and online classes, without the extra cost of an i7. This 4th-generation chip is older, but paired with an SSD it still handles documents, browsing, email and video calls comfortably. 8 GB of RAM is comfortable for everyday multitasking — browser, Office, music and a video call. The 256 GB SSD means it boots in seconds and apps open quickly. The 14-inch HD screen is fine for documents, browsing and video.

Build and everyday use

A little thicker and heavier than a T-series (around 1.7 kg), with plenty of ports so you're not living on dongles. Comfortable ThinkPad keyboard, often with TrackPoint. It runs Windows 10 Pro. One honest note: Microsoft ended free security updates for Windows 10 in October 2025, so this is best for offline or office-network use, or enrol it in Microsoft's paid Extended Security Updates. Ask us if you'd prefer a Windows 11 option.

Upgrades

Two RAM slots and easy access to the drive on most L models — cheap to upgrade later.
