The EliteBook 800 series is HP's premium business laptop — the one HP sold to large companies that wanted something a step above the ProBook. Better materials, better screen, better keyboard. The 840 G6 is a refined 8th-gen EliteBook with a premium aluminium body.
The Core i7 gives you extra headroom for heavier work: big spreadsheets, coding with several tools open, and light photo or video editing. 8th generation was a big jump for Intel: it was the first time thin business laptops got four cores instead of two. In practice that means noticeably smoother multitasking than older models — this is the generation we most often recommend. 8 GB RAM is the right amount for study, office work and normal multitasking. Storage is a 256 GB SSD, so start-up and file loading are fast. The 14-inch HD screen is fine for documents, browsing and video.
Build and everyday use
Aluminium body, about 1.5 kg, with a solid, premium feel. Backlit keyboard and a good touchpad; many units have a fingerprint reader. It comes with genuine Windows 11 Pro installed and activated.
