Dell Latitude 3400 · Intel Core i7 (8th Gen) · 14" HD · 8 GB / 256 GB SSD

This Dell Latitude 3400 is the kind of machine that quietly gets the job done, day after day. The Latitude 3000 series is Dell's value business laptop — built for schools, call centres and small offices that want Dell's business support and reliability at the lowest price. The 3400 is a no-fuss 14-inch Latitude from 2019 — plain to look at, but it has the full-size USB ports, HDMI and Ethernet that schools and offices actually need.

The Core i7 gives you extra headroom for heavier work: big spreadsheets, coding with several tools open, and light photo or video editing. 8th generation was a big jump for Intel: it was the first time thin business laptops got four cores instead of two. In practice that means noticeably smoother multitasking than older models — this is the generation we most often recommend. With 8 GB of memory, switching between Chrome, Word and Zoom stays smooth. A 256 GB SSD keeps everything snappy — no waiting around for the hard drive. The 14-inch HD screen is fine for documents, browsing and video.

Upgrades

Usually two RAM slots and an easily replaced drive — very upgrade-friendly.
