Dell Precision 5540 · Intel Core i7 (9th Gen) · 15.6" 4K UHD · 16 GB / 512 GB SSD

If you want Dell Precision (slim) quality without paying new-laptop prices, this is the one to look at. The Precision 5000 and 3000 series are Dell's slimmer mobile workstations — XPS-style design on the outside, workstation-grade processors and professional graphics on the inside. The Precision 5540 brings 9th-gen H-series power and a 4K display in the slim XPS-style chassis.

The Core i7 gives you extra headroom for heavier work: big spreadsheets, coding with several tools open, and light photo or video editing. This is a 9th-generation H-series chip — a high-performance processor with more cores than typical laptop chips, made for sustained heavy work. 16 GB of RAM gives you room for plenty of browser tabs, an IDE, Teams and Excel all at once. A 512 GB SSD keeps everything snappy — no waiting around for the hard drive. The 15.6-inch 4K display is razor sharp — excellent for photo work, design and reading fine text.
