If you want ThinkPad T-series performance (p) quality without paying new-laptop prices, this is the one to look at. The 'p' models were the performance version of the ThinkPad T-series — full-power processors (with quad-core options), better cooling and room for more memory, in a body that's still manageable to carry. The T470p is the performance version of the T470, with an i7 and extra cooling.
The Core i7 gives you extra headroom for heavier work: big spreadsheets, coding with several tools open, and light photo or video editing. The 7th-generation chip is a refinement of the 6th — slightly faster, better at video playback, and very comfortable for office work and study. 8 GB of RAM is comfortable for everyday multitasking — browser, Office, music and a video call. The 256 GB SSD means it boots in seconds and apps open quickly. The 14-inch HD screen is fine for documents, browsing and video.
Build and everyday use
Thicker and heavier than a regular T-series (about 1.8 kg), but that bulk goes into cooling and upgradeability. Full ThinkPad keyboard with TrackPoint and physical mouse buttons. It comes with genuine Windows 11 Pro installed and activated.
