Refurbished MacBook: M1 or Intel?
If you can afford it, choose M1 (or M2). Here's why:
- Speed: M1 is faster than most Intel MacBooks at everyday tasks, and much faster at video and photo editing.
- Battery: M1 MacBook Airs comfortably last a full working day. Intel MacBooks usually last half that.
- Heat and noise: the M1 Air has no fan and stays silent. Intel MacBooks can get hot and loud.
- Software support: Apple silicon Macs will receive macOS updates for longer.
When Intel still makes sense
- You're on a tight budget and only need browsing, study and documents
- You need to run Windows directly via Boot Camp
- You want a big 15/16-inch screen at a lower price
For most buyers, the price difference is worth it.
