Intel vs AMD Ryzen in a refurbished laptop
Both are good choices. Here's where each shines in the refurbished market:
AMD Ryzen (for example, ThinkPad T495, EliteBook 745, ProBook 645)
- Stronger integrated graphics (Radeon Vega) than Intel chips of the same era
- Good multi-core performance for the price
- Often a little cheaper than the Intel version of the same laptop
Intel
- Far more models to choose from
- Thunderbolt on many models, useful for docks and fast external storage
- 11th-gen and newer Intel chips have much better graphics (Iris Xe-class)
Which to pick
If you want light gaming or photo editing on a budget, a Ryzen business laptop is great value. Otherwise, choose the model and generation you like — both will serve you well.
