What is a fair price for a refurbished laptop?
A fair price reflects four things: generation, configuration, condition and what the seller includes.
How to check
1. Find the processor generation, not just "i5". An 8th-gen i5 and a 4th-gen i5 are very different machines.
2. Compare the same RAM and storage. An SSD is worth paying more for.
3. Adjust for grade. Grade B+ should cost less than Grade A.
4. Value the extras: warranty length, return window, GST invoice and COD are worth money.
5. Compare two or three sellers for the same model and specs.
Warning signs
A price far below everyone else's usually means an older generation, a hard drive instead of an SSD, a weak battery, or no warranty. Price guide by budget.
