Concrete Cube Test: What It Is and Why You Should Care
You cannot see inside a slab — but you can test samples of the same concrete. That is what the cube test does.
How it works
Fresh concrete is filled into 150 mm cube moulds at the time of pouring, cured in water and then crushed in a testing machine.
7-day vs 28-day
- 7 days — an early indicator; should reach about 65% of target strength.
- 28 days — the official result against the design grade (e.g. 25 N/mm² for M25).
What homeowners should do
Ask your builder for cube test reports for every slab. At EcoFrame these are uploaded to your client portal automatically.
