AAC Blocks vs Red Bricks: Which Should You Use?
Walls are a big lever for both cost and comfort. Here is how the two most common options compare on real projects.
Side by side
| Factor | AAC blocks | Red bricks |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | ~⅓ of brick | Heavy |
| Thermal insulation | Excellent | Moderate |
| Speed | Fast (large units) | Slower |
| Mortar use | Low (thin-bed) | High |
Why we prefer AAC
Lighter walls reduce the load on the frame — often saving steel and concrete — and the air pockets in AAC keep interiors noticeably cooler.
When bricks still win
Exposed-brick facades, load-bearing structures and some heritage looks still call for good wire-cut bricks.
